What Is Disposable Bed Pads?
Disposable incontinence bed pads or are outstanding, porous pads that trap urine to prevent mattress wetting. Frequent bed-wetting can damage a mattress and disrupt sleep. There's no particular way of using, as they can be on or below bed sheets per a user's preference.

Cut the product packaging with scissors and open the bag on one side.
Carefully reach into the bag and pull one bed pad out of the packaging. Keep the remaining underpads inside the bag. Stow away extra pads accordingly.
Hold the pad with two hands. Find the corners and pull the two sides away from each other until you see the white quilted top layer.
Open up the pad by unfolding along creases like a newspaper.
Hold the edges of the bed pad securely and “throw” it away from you to catch some air. This will open the underpad, completely exposing the absorbent top layer.
Place the pad on the bed white side up. If the underpad has adhesive strips, remove the paper cover from the strip.
Press down on the incontinence pad firmly, securing it onto the bed sheet.
Tips For Keeping Disposable Bed Pads Dry
Waterproof Mattress Covers
Waterproof mattress covers are a good investment, especially when keeping your mattress dry, They serve as mattress protectors and usually go underneath a bed sheet. There are a variety of versions to choose from including a mattress protector with zipper, flat mattress pads that anchor with elastic loops on each corner, or mattress toppers with an elasticized fitted skirt.
Use a zippered, vinyl waterproof bedding cover. This will keep your mattress fully protected as it completely covers your mattress and fits snugly. This will prevent stains and moisture that can ruin your mattress.
An additional layer of protection can be added by using a waterproof bedding cushion. This goes on top of a vinyl mattress cover and can offer extra comfort, especially for bed-ridden individuals.
If you are experiencing moderate to severe incontinence, a waterproof underpad can be laid out to provide an extra barrier against urine leaks. Some waterproof pads are reusable and can be laundered for maximum product use.
Super Absorbent Pads
Invest in super absorbent underpads to keep your skin and mattress dry. High quality underpads can make life easier by preventing unwanted spills and leaks. Disposable underpads are safe and hygienic to use as they are changed frequently. This is recommended for skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, and home health care.
Used often along with an absorbent undergarment of some kind, disposable bed pads are useful in managing adult urinary incontinence by preventing wetness from penetrating through a mattress or box spring (which permanently stains the fabric). A furtive method to use when dealing with a rather embarrassing condition, disposable bed pads are a quick and easy way to avoid unfortunate accidents beyond a person's control especially while sleeping in someone else's lodgings. Disposable bed pads can also be used in many other locations, such as sofas, chairs, and in times of emergencies can even substitute for an adult diaper due to the use of lightweight, non-woven material.
While there are other methods of treatment that can potentially stop incontinence fully, there are few methods that are as simple and effective as the use of a disposable bed pad. For those that are suffering from incontinence, being discreet is a serious concern that might be betrayed as soon as they start seeing a specialist. There are also no guarantees when having surgery performed on urinary tracts, or taking expensive anti-incontinence medication whereas a bed pad will always work as advertised. While there may come a time where options like catheterization or electrical stimulation becomes required solutions for incontinence, most sufferers find the instant availability of disposable bed pads to be their best method.
Purchasing a disposable bed pad is as simple as a trip to the local drugstore, where several different options are available for managing incontinence. One advantage with using bedpads is that they do not require any prescriptions, or the need to get a consultation with a physician beforehand. The ease of procurement helps when a bedpad user wants to keep their situation as far away from the limelight as possible. A person needing a batch of disposable bed pads can have one quickly, quietly, and with much less of a fuss when compared to the other options for treatment/management.
There are certain advantages to using either a disposable or a washable/reusable bed pad. For starters, washables last more than one use, while the disposables (as the name suggests) will need to be thrown away every day. Washable bed pads are also much more comfortable to sleep on, and less noticeable due to the cotton/polyester fabrics used, as compared to the synthetic polymer and absorbent paper that make up any given disposable bed pad. Disposables will also obviously run out at some point, and will represent a constant source of expense for incontinence sufferers should they go in that route rather than using a washable bed pad instead. However, disposables are much more flexible in terms of application than washable brand bed pads. As mentioned earlier, it's possible to use disposables in more locations than just on top of a mattress. Also, if a user is between laundry loads and wishes to take a nap, they would be taking a risk if they were a washable bed pad user while the disposable user can freely nap at any time the impulse reaches them. Despite the bed pad option used, they are great ways to quickly gain control back for those who've lost a measure of freedom with such a common, yet altogether nightmarish bladder condition.
Absorbency - The core of disposable bed pads is made from a super absorbent polymer that turns into a gel that retains wetness.
Airflow - Incontinence underpads have low air to help them lodge liquids effectively, making them ideal for bedridden patients. They're also used in low-air-loss mattresses to prevent heat or wetness from building up.
Air-permeable - Disposable bed pads disseminate heat while absorbing moisture to keep the skin dry. They're also strong enough for an individual to turn anytime without tearing or moving.
Backing Material - Disposable bed pads have a plastic backing that prevents slipping. Some have adhesive tapes to hold the bed pads in place.
Top Material - Although different bed pads are made from diverse materials, the top is primarily soft for additional comfort.

Some Different Uses Of Disposable Bed Pads
Commodes
Patients can use disposable incontinence bed pads to place under commodes. These are portable bedside toilets, and under pads protect urine from spilling onto the floor.
Furniture Protection
Disposable incontinence under pads can prevent urine from entering furniture, wheelchairs, and couches. They efficiently protect any furniture because they have adhesive tapes that secure various surfaces.
Car Mount
Taking a child or an adult with incontinence issues on a car ride is less complicated and comfortable with disposable underpads. They protect vehicle car seats from stains and save seat replacement costs.
When Changing A Baby'S Diaper
Incontinence underpads are ideal to use during baby change diapers on the go. They're easy to fit in a baby changing station and are friendly to the baby thanks to the soft, sterile, and smooth surface. Therefore, no worries about hygiene for the baby.
Disposable underpads are more convenient than reusable ones. They can be disposed of after use, so they don’t require laundering. Disposable chucks pads often contain odor control properties which reduce bad smells. The quick drying technologies are also very practical and prevent skin rashes and the like.
Disposable bed pads have many names; some call them disposable chucks pads or chux (another word for bed pads), and others refer to them as blue chucks pads or blue pads for beds, since disposable bed pads - especially those in the hospital - are often designed with blue backing. They are also known as disposable bed mats or underpads. All of these terms are used interchangeably.
Disposable bed mats can be used to protect your linen, mattress, flooring, and even furniture from getting soiled, wet or damaged.
Bedding and mattresses can become stained or ruined irreparably from bodily fluids, but thankfully, this situation can be avoided by putting a disposable underpad on your bed. Doing so is very important if you want everything to stay clean and dry throughout the night.
When disposable bed pads for adults are not used, and urine leaks occur, they can result in bedsores, skin rashes or other dermatological issues. These skin problems can be very itchy and uncomfortable.
Since accidents can occur anywhere, disposable incontinence bed pads are not only for beds; they can also be used to protect your sofa, geri chair, or any other surface in your home or yard. They will keep the furniture in your home clean and usable.
When covering your sheet or any other surface with a disposable underpad, make sure the absorbent side is facing upward, and the waterproof side is facing downward.
For the most protection from leakage, it is advised to use several incontinence products simultaneously. Aside from using a disposable bed wetting pad, one can also utilize adult diapers, mattress protectors, and diaper guards to best contain any and all urine leaks.
Main Factors To Keep In Mind Disposable Bed Pads
Absorption
Disposable underpads differ immensely in absorption capacity (the amount of liquid a bed pad can hold). There are actually four standard levels of absorbency which most disposable underpads can be divided into.
Back Sheet Material
The back sheet is the most important part of the disposable bed pad. It's the part that determines the comfort, breathability and the absorbancy capacity of the bed pad. Therefore, finding out which material the back sheet is comprised of is important; it'll help you decide if this bed sheet is the one for you. Some back sheet fabrics are air-permeable, and others are non-woven. Choose the disposable waterproof bed pads that you think will be most comfortable for you.
Size
Due to the fact that they can be used on so many different surfaces, disposable incontinence bed pads come in various sizes. There are chux for chairs, couches, beds, and car seats. When choosing disposable chux, keep in mind the surface that you plan to place it on, and see which bed pad makes the most sense to purchase, sizewise. Here are some quick stats about common blue chucks pad sizes and what they’re best used for.
16" x 16”- Ideal for protecting chairs, couches, car seats or wheelchair seats.
24” x 17”- Use for a child who is bedwetting, for changing a baby on, or as a training pad for pets.
23” x 36”- On the smaller side but can be used for adults.
30” x 36”- These are the standard size for disposable bed pads for adults.
34” x 52”- Bed pads around this size are large enough for tall or large sized people.
36” x 72”- The largest bed pads are often used for queen or king beds to ensure coverage throughout the night.
Price
Price is often what determines quality. Therefore, unless there's no other option (or you don't mind taking the risk), it's best to choose a bed pad that isn't too cheap. Very cheap disposable bed pads often turn out to be flimsy and thin, and don't contain liquid well enough. They can sometimes be okay for very light incontinence but should be avoided for other types of incontinence.
